Egan has worked for IBM for over 13 years and has worked with many studios and companies helping them overcome hurtles in the area of high performance computing (HPC).  Egan has also worked closely with Linus Torvald over the years working on new features of the Linux kernel. During this meeting Egan will be giving an overveiw of new functions/features of xCAT 2.0 followed by an informal open discussion. All Members are welcome to attend.

At the Supercomputing 2009 show (November 16th), SGI unveiled what officials are calling the fastest and most scalable shared-memory system. Powered by Intel's upcoming "Nehalem EX" Xeon processors, the Altix UV can scale from 32 to 2,048 processing cores and can support up to 16 terabytes of shared memory in a single image, all within four server racks.

In February we had our first StudioSysAdmins User Group Meeting in Los Angeles. We had a great turn out and feel that we are ready for our second meeting.  This second meeting  will be another opportunity to meet our peers and again discuss technical needs with the primary focus on Render Management (queuing).
