September 5th, 2009 marks the First Anniversary of StudioSysAdmins.
In the past year, we've grown to 366 Members - on average - a new member every day!
One of our goals this year was to have meetings in 4 different cities - at the end of this month - we will have reached 3 cities with regular meetings in Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver. We almost have enough members in several other cities including London, Montreal, New York, San Francisco, and Sydney. If we continue to increase our membership we should be able to start local meetings in those areas soon. We are still looking to boost our numbers in certain areas of expertise which we currently do not have a large number of Members. We would like to see more Game Companies, Hardware/Software Vendors, as well as, more Technical Directors, Pipeline Developers, Hardware Engineers and Software Developers to help expand the groups insight and knowledge. Please help spread the word to all your colleagues, support contacts and/or customers.

We would like to see more participation on the web site including the sharing of documentation, workflows, and testing, using the on-line FORUMS more (instead of through the distribution lists) so topics are easier to find for future reference, adding more photos of meetings and studios in the GALLERY. and finally if everyone can send in their avatars for the FORUMS it would bring the community together that much more.

The second StudioSysAdmins meeting held in Los Angeles went off with great success with a great turnout and talks.
Overall we had about 70 Members sign up for the meeting.

Big news - We will be having our first meeting in Vancouver later this month!

The first StudioSysAdmins meeting in Los Angeles was last night with great success. Regular meetings in this area and more information on what occurred during the meeting will be announced shortly.
Overall we had over 50 Members/new people turn out at the meeting/social event.
Special thanks to RFX and South Paw Technology for speaking and allow the even to take place.
After the event many new people have joined, and as of today we have 153 Members representing 74 Companies. If you havn't joined yet, please do!
With the event in Vancouver the first week in March, we are hoping to expand the group in that area so we can schedule regular meetings.
We are currently looking for candidates that would like to arrange meetings in other cities as well. If you are interested, please contact John Hickson.

Overall we had about 30 Members show up for some great food and some great conversations.
Major things discussed at this meeting were how to get people more involved with adding content to the site, as well as discussing how we can recruit new members for the group. We are looking for everyone to participate in both adding content, asking questions in the forums, and help with recruiting.

The first StudioSysAdmins meeting was held in Toronto last night with great success.
Overall we had about 15 systems administrators and/or technical directors at the meeting and just over 20 people for the after party.
We discussed a lot of topics and I think everyone can see a lot of potential for this group going forward.

As of today we have 68 Members representing 38 Companies.
Not bad for just a couple of weeks - and we are continuing to grow every day.

StudioSysAdmins is a social networking community dedicated to improving infrastructure, workflows and support across the Entertainment/Digital Content Creation Industry. An expanding community with one common site that joins Systems Administrators, Technical Directors, Pipeline Developers, Consultants, Hardware/Software Support Engineers and Hardware/Software Vendors and Resellers (VARs) that currently work and/or in some way support production and post-production studios in the areas of animation, visual-fx, film, and games.
Our goal is to enable the sharing of all non-proprietary information among all of our Members and to maintain open discussions between studios, vendors and VARs to look at ways that standards can be set in order to help improve support for the installation, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of hardware, software and operating systems.
Currently, we hold regular meetings In Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver that are hosted by one of our Members studios and/or sponsored by one or more of our supporting member Companies to present and/or discuss ongoing issues/concerns, new/future technologies, as well as social conversation.
StudioSysAdmins currently has 591 registered Members which represent 328 different Companies.
An important thing to note is that 200 of these Companies are Production Studios.
