The Data Operations Resource Specialist is responsible for working with the relevant people to manage the overall data and resources required for productions, which includes the render farm, and production storage. The Resource Specialist will ensure all data resource needs are met with daily metrics gathering and reporting. The Resource Specialist will act as an additional point of contact for directing and providing technical support.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the coordinating with the Render Wrangler and ensuring the Render Farm is utilized to its maximum capacity
  • Responsible for overseeing production related data, including tier1 (disk) and offline (tape/cloud) storage, which includes backing up and restoring data
  • Work with the relevant departments to create clean-up policies and ensure that the policies are run at regular intervals across all active shows
  • Coordinate with productions and Render Wrangler in order to forecast and report on rendering and storage usage
  • Liaise with the production teams to ensure daily project render priorities are defined and met
  • Liaise with Production Managers to resolve any major outstanding issues
  • Responsible for overseeing company’s physical media and client’s physical assets
  • Work with DSA Lead to ensure optimal Data Operations and Render Wrangler coverage
  • Monitor data transfers being synced between Cinesite Montreal and its sister locations
  • Actively develop ways to improve overall operational efficiency for the Data Operations team
  • Undertake other ad hoc duties, when required

 

Requirements:

 

  • Strong working knowledge of Linux (command line), Windows and Mac
  • Proven scripting skills (Shell or Python)
  • Proven development experience with pipeline optimizations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent customer service orientation skills
  • Understanding of rendering technologies and queuing systems
  • Good knowledge of the film industry and related processes
  • The ability to work well under pressure & meet deadlines
  • Experience in cloud rendering and storage with providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, is a plus
  • Good knowledge of various production graphics applications such as Maya, Nuke, and Houdini, is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • The ability to motivate individuals and teams to reach their maximum potential
  • Flexible nature, with the ability to adapt to changing production requirements
  • Working knowledge of file transfer applications and tools
