Reporting To: Head of Innovation and Projects Supervisor

The Software Developer’s exact responsibilities in Brown Bag Films will vary dependent on the project, but will be mainly responsible for the underlying architecture and development for software applications.

Although the responsibilities are primarily technical, the Software Developer will also interface between the pipeline department and productions teams. The software developer also serves as technical advisor to management and provides programming perspective on requirements.

Key Responsibilties:

- Participate in the Research and Development of new features or tools which assist or improve the production workflow
- Development of new technologies to support the current productions in Brown Bag Films
- Integration of 3rd party software with existing systems
- Work with Head of Innovation/Pipeline to develop roadmaps and technical plans for projects or ongoing development
- Attend relevant industry conference and trade shows
- Conduct efficiency studies of workflows in current tools and work towards improving them
- Documenting APIs, user guides and internal policies and procedures
- Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
- Any other relevant tasks deemed appropriate by your manager or directors of the company

Key Requirements:

- BSc in Computer Science or related field
- Extensive development experience in Python, JavaScript, Angular
- Some industry experience in C++ and C# required
- Full-stack software development experience
- Demonstrable experience of architecting and designing frameworks for web-based and standalone applications
- Previous experience working on Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems essential
- A good understanding of Data Models and Relational Databases
- A understanding of CG technologies and production practices
- Good understanding of UI/UX principles
- Experience building resilient and effective back-end services
- Experience using unit tests in development
- Excellent ability to learn, adapt and deliver
- Demonstrated experience working with internal or external clients
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good planning and project bidding abilities
- Good understanding of Computer Science principles

Bonus Skills:

* Experience with game engine technologies
* Experience with Autodesk Maya
* Experience with Autodesk Shotgun Toolkit
* Experience with Flask

Should the Covid19 restrictions still apply we are looking for successful candidate to start remotely first and then relocate to Dublin office on a full time bases once restrictions are removed. Must be able to work remote should the restrictions apply.
