Sinking Ship Entertainment is looking for a Pipeline Technical Director to join our talented TD team. This is a great opportunity for an individual with 6+ years’ experience as a Pipeline TD to use their skills to their fullest potential while being part of a team that works hard to continuously grow. You will have the opportunity to help build the tools that bring the crazy fun creatures and worlds to life for our award-winning shows.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Technology
  • Support the company’s current technical capabilities and contribute to future technical projects
  • Collaborate with the Pipeline & Technology team, Production Managers, and Supervisors to develop new tools and workflows
  • Ensure requests for new tools and workflows align with the company’s development strategy, technology roadmap, and individual project or show requirements
  • Maintain and constantly improve VFX and animation pipelines
  • Write and maintain clear, accurate, and concise documentation
  • Provide technical support to artists

Who are you?

  • You demonstrate an aptitude for creative problem-solving

  • You are open to exploring innovative ideas and learning new tools and processes
  • You have excellent time-management and task-prioritizing skills
  • You have a minimum of 6 years of experience in Pipeline and R&D teams within the VFX/Animation industry or equivalent experience in a tech company

Technical Qualifications

  • Solid experience with Python, PyQt, and PySide required (working knowledge of C++ is a plus)
  • Solid experience with developing tools for DCCs such as Maya, Nuke, Mari
  • Experience with renderers such as Arnold, Redshift, Renderman, Vray
  • Experience with render management software such as Deadline, Rush, OpenCue
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience with production tracking applications such as Shotgun, ftrack, NIM, as well as developing tools for communication between those applications and various DCCs (experience with Shotgun API and Shotgun Toolkit is a plus)
  • Experience with developing tools in a Windows and/or Linux environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with a USD-based pipeline is a big plus
  • Experience with real-time engines (such as Unreal) and GPU processing  
  • Working knowledge of CSS, HTML, Javascript, and web application development
  • Experience with common production frameworks such as OpenGL, SQLAlchemy
  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Development
