We are a television commercial post production facility, encompassing offline editorial (Premiere / Avid Media Composer), sound (Pro Tools), CG (Maya / Houdini / Nuke), Design (C4D / After Effects) and Finishing (Autodesk Flame). Workstations are a combination of Mac, Windows and Linux. Our total user count is around 60.

Our IT infrastructure includes Windows Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Dell 10 gigabit switching / routing, Sonicwall firewall and a 1.5PB Quantum Stornext SAN with LTO Tape library. The CG department also has a 30-node Windows-based render farm. There are several other custom Linux servers (physical as well as virtual) which serve various data to our departments, and incorporate many custom scripts to move / copy data, build job folder templates etc.

We are looking for a Systems Administrator with a focus on Linux.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with other Engineering team members to perform new hardware setup, software installation and deployment, upgrades, migration, etc.
  • Providing technical support for VFX artists using Linux workstations.
  • Performing maintenance and monitoring of various IT systems / servers / storage pools, including disk to disk backup scripts and a backup tape library.
  • Managing data aging and migration.
  • Support of Mac and Windows users when other Engineering team members are busy

Your previous experience should include:

  • Knowledge of Centos 7 and Ubuntu 18 (Bash shell scripting, compiling / installing software and dependencies, installing hardware / drivers, configuring storage)
  • NFS / Samba configuration
  • Basic PHP / MySQL
  • Basic LDAP
  • An understanding of video and post production file workflows (imperative).
  • Knowledge of IPv4 network architecture including VLAN routing, DHCP, DNS etc.
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory management
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Media and Entertainment software (e.g. Flame) is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Archiware Presstore / P5 backup software, Vmware Vsphere / Esxi, Nagios / Icinga / SNMP system monitoring, Thinkbox Deadline render management are all preferred.
  • Knowledge of Perl and Python would be a huge plus.
