THE THIRD FLOOR is the world’s most prestigious visualization company with offices in Los Angeles and London, supervising industry leading productions around the world on location and on set. Since 2004, the studio has helped clients visualize complex feature films, TV series, immersive experiences and commercial productions through our work in previs, techvis, postvis and virtual production.

The Third Floor London is a fun, creative company founded by artists, for artists. We work on high profile projects, whilst maintaining a small studio feel. Recent hits include Mary Poppins Returns, Venom, Avengers Infinity War, Christopher Robin, Aquaman and Game of Thrones.

The IT Manager is responsible for TTFL’s technical infrastructure and systems, supporting the head office and remote studio sites, with between 100-150 staff. This is a demanding and fast-paced environment requiring a hardworking, security conscious technical individual with great organisational and communication skills.

This role is ideal for a technical hands-on manager with a couple of years experience managing a small team, currently 2 engineers. Or, a senior systems administrator with leadership qualities searching for that next step. 

Responsibilities:

  • Management of all IT functions and services for UK offices and remote studio setups.

  • Head a team of systems admins and support staff.

  • Lead, mentor and motivate the technical teams in a positive and constructive manner.

  • Day to day support management; tickets, licenses, hardware, infrastructure, data, servers, network, security, inter-site, workflows, processes and policies.

  • Lead and implement projects to resolve existing problems or to introduce new services or technology.

  • Upto 3rd line hands-on support cover when needed. Last line of escalation.

  • Work daily with production and management to review running and upcoming project needs and plan resources accordingly.

  • Work with London heads of creative, Production and Development to review current and future technology needs.

  • Design processes, policies and workflows for infrastructure, security, licenses, disaster recovery, business continuity, best-practice, standards, procurement and user management.

  • Work closely with global TTF tech leads in Pipeline, Innovation, VP and IT LA to share knowledge and implement global change, improving efficiencies where possible.

  • Implement and manage high industry security standards. Head annual company audits.

  • Closely collaborate with TTF’s Global Director of Technology and CTO to research, plan and implement cross-site technology projects.

  • Manage company technology budgets, working closely with TTFL MD.

  • Keep abreast of new technology to further improve existing systems.

  • Attend required technical functions, industry events and presentations.

  • Build and manage relations with 3rd party vendors, partners and client’s technical teams.

Technical skills:

  • Networking protocols and services - switching, routing and firewalls.

  • High performance computing - hardware, network, servers.

  • Security protocols, processes, procedures and workflows - experience with audits.

  • Multi-platform environment - mainly Windows with some Linux and iOS.

  • Strong directory services management.

  • Asset and resource management.

  • Automation and deployment tools.

  • Scripting skills (Python/Powershell).

  • Virtual environments.

  • Cloud DaaS technologies advantage.

  • Understanding and familiarity with Maya, Adobe Suite, Nuke, Avids.

  • Understanding of Game Engines desirable.
