Studio Systems Administrator

A leading Los Angeles based entertainment services company is seeking a contractor to fill a temp-to-perm position for a role as a STUDIO systems administrator.


  • 3-5 years experience managing IT infrastructure in a STUDIO environment including, but not limited to:
  • Application servers
  • Mail servers
  • Storage systems
  • VPN management
  • Application Support (Maya, Toon Boom Software, 3DS Max and/or other studio tool software)
  • Active Directory management

Management and Administration of:

• Servers, routers, switches, firewalls, SAN, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches, network equipment (switches, routers, etc.), printers/copiers, input devices, phone systems, security system, video monitoring system and other technical equipment

• Ensure the integrity of file servers, VPN gateways, and intrusion detection systems are reliable and secure

• Responsible for Backup and Recovery of servers and configurations

• Support LANs, WANs, network segments and Internet systems

• Knowledge of off site storage such as: AWS Technologies and other cloud software

• Understanding of VPNs and Proxy Servers (OpenVPN)

• Have an understanding of good security practices: (i.e. MPAA, Disney, ISO 27001)

• Knowledge of Linux, Windows, OSX systems

• Knowledge and comfort using common command tools

• Experience configuring LDAP Servers

• Thorough ownership of issues including maintaining documentation

• Administration of Windows & Linux Systems within strict security policies and procedures.

• Capacity to address a variety of complex problems with clear focus, and concise communication.

• The ability to work in a team environment with creative and engineering users, as well as other administrators.

• Multi-tasking with good communication skills; both verbal and written are a must.

• Perform desktop support duties, set up and support computers running Microsoft Office and other software

• Familiarity with basic ticket systems


Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

• Windows (Server 2003-2016, Active Directory, GPO management), VMWare (ESXi, vCenter), Xen Desktop, PowerShell.

• Strong attention to detail

• Basic network operations skills

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

• Able to lift at least 50 (fifty) pounds

• Works well under pressure with a positive, can-do outlook

• Must be adept in working in a fast paced, ever changing environment with excellent written and verbal communication

• Strong communication and customer service skills for daily hands-on internal customer support

This is a part time position, with potential future full time placement.
