Post-Production Systems Administrator

Whitehouse Post / CarbonVFX, Chicago, is seeking a Post-Production Systems Administrator to join our team.  You will be working with and supporting a group of talented award-winning creatives, amazing producers, and resourceful engineers.  You would be a key member of the tech team in Chicago and Whitehouse / Carbon collectively.  

 

The responsibilities of this position are vast, so you would need to be extremely organized, detailed, ability to prioritize and enjoy a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create, test, and implement software images on Linux, Mac, and Windows.
  • In person and phone support for VFX Artists, Finishing, Farm, Color, Production, Editorial and Operations using Linux, Windows, and Mac.
  • Work with outside vendors for support on internal systems, i.e. Autodesk - Flame, Baselight - Color, HVAC, and Phones, etc.
  • Setup, move, and install workstations to meet production requirements.
  • Edit and create scripts as needed to facilitate the automation of systems activities.
  • Troubleshoot to resolution operational and workstations hardware.
  • Support Artists on file prep for CG and Flame pipeline, posting, transcoding and archiving.
  • Help Desk Support for Users (Editorial, VFX, and Operational).
  • Documentation of systems and processes.

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working in a Systems/IT support position.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Mac, and command line Linux.
  • An understanding of servers, networking, storage, and render systems for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Strong scripting skillset.  Python, shell.
  • Working knowledge of Puppet.
  • Great people skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and respond quickly to important issues.
  • Experience in post-production, namely industry-based systems: Flame, Nuke, Maya, After Effects, Houdini, Deadline, Avid, Premiere, etc.
  • Experience with Help Desk Support.
