The IT Generalist (overnight) is responsible for supporting all Hardware Deployment/Moves, and general Hardware issues. In addition, he/she is responsible for supporting all workstation issues, including hardware, OS and applications, performing I/O and Data Operations tasks, and monitoring the company’s render farm for all projects.

Your Role:  

1/ Data Operations/ Render Wrangler

  • Maintain company’s render farm by prioritizing jobs as per project requests
  • Notify Artists of any issues with their render jobs
  • Upload and download digital data to and from various clients using industry standard file-transfer systems
  • Prepare and publish plates and other assets for use by production
  • Maintain department inventory
  • Package and create Showreels for the Company and Artists
  • Calibrate colour-accurate Monitors and Projectors
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the department

2/ Desktop / IT Support

  • Provide technical support for the company’s employees using Linux, OS X and Windows workstations and laptops.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues for workstations, laptops, monitors, tablets, printers and other equipment
  • Set up and configure workstations, laptops and IP Phones
  • Create and modify Mailing and Group lists
  • Support the Security System
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the department
  • Any other job-related tasks.

Qualifications: 

  • In-depth working knowledge of Linux (command line), Windows and MAC
  • In-depth knowledge and ability to solve both operating system and application problems in Linux, OS X and Windows
  • Basic knowledge in network file systems
  • Basic knowledge of Bash, Python or Perl scripting
  • Basic knowledge of deployment and management systems such as Kickstart, YUM and Puppet
  • Good knowledge of the Film Industry and related processes
  • The ability to work well autonomously under pressure & meet deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible nature, be able to adapt to changing production requirements
