Nexus is an independent production company and animation studio, with a worldwide reputation for creative and accomplished home-grown design and transmedia story-telling. Our work includes an Oscar nominated short, Grammy nominated and MTV Award winning music videos, and Cannes Grand Prix, Gold Lions, and Black D&AD pencil winning commercials.

We are dedicated to the development of unique voices in filmmaking, with a roster of directing talent working with multi-disciplinary skills in animation, live-action and interactive media, including AR and VR.

We are currently recruiting for the Studio Sys Admin role to join our growing team. Your technical thinking and passion for creativity will help to improve systems for the end user - in this case, our talented artists that make up our studio.

With knowledge and experience of 3D packages (Maya, 3ds Max), various render software (inc Vray, Redshift), compositing packages (Nuke, After Effects) and Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems, you will provide valuable on-job support and maintain the smooth running of our render farm.


General duties will include the following:


  • Management of the render farm, including wrangling to ensure workflow is as efficient as possible with minimal errors.

  • Working closely with studio leads on commercial projects, managing software licences, pre-empting potential issues.

  • Working closely with our pipeline team to aid in the development of 2D and 3D pipelines.

  • Management of data lifecycles, such as data ingest, backups and archiving.

  • Workstation / server deployment and configuration.

  • Offering IT support to the studio, ensuring all staff and crew have the equipment and software they need to operate efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Experience managing a Windows Domain, including configuring systems via group policy and powershell scripting.

  • Experience of Maya, 3ds Max, After Effects and other animation/vfx software

  • Experience with render management software and render farms.

  • A good understanding of LAN, WAN and associated technologies

  • Familiarity with backup software and archiving.

  • Coding / Scripting Experience.


The ideal candidate may also have experience of (but not essential):


  • Python

  • PowerShell

  • Google Apps Script

  • Configuring and managing cloud resources such as AWS/Azure/GCP
