We’re looking for a Pipeline Technical Director to join our team in London and help the continued development of the studio’s production pipeline. You will design, implement, and manage tools that assist the digital artists with their daily use of both third party and in-house software and systems. These tools are intended to make 3D and 2D production as efficient and productive as possible, in line with advances, and to develop the pipeline in response to the varied projects in production.
The role requires strong technical and communication skills, as well as a firm understanding of software design, graphics and production workflow. When a production is at full steam, the role requires someone who can debug users’ issues and provide a quick fix. And longer term, our software is written with reusability in mind so an ability to work in a team and to follow certain coding standards is also important.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with other Technical Directors, Supervisors, and all artists to help design and create tools for each discipline to be integrated into the existing pipeline & to troubleshoot & fix problems.

  • Directly support the artists to resolve technical problems, process queries and suggest alternative workflows to increase productivity.

  • Work with department representatives to augment their work flows and tool sets to achieve specific goals of the project.

  • Craft and update documentation for tools, techniques and workflows.

  • Maintain a good team dynamic

  • Train other users to use the developed tools



At least 1 years experience in Animation, Feature Films, Games, or solid programming experience elsewhere and a willingness to learn the specifics of CG workflows.
Core Skills
Python (Including PyQt/PySide) is essential
Ability to debug users’ problems in a fast paced environment
Ability to work on new or existing code and to work to various coding standards

Working knowledge of the following is desirable

Version Control (Git)
Shotgun (including Toolkit API)
Deadline API
3dsMax (Maxscript)
Unity / Unreal – VR, specifically game asset creation
Solid understanding of command line processing
