The Real-Time Pipeline TD has a thorough understanding of art and animation pipelines in general and of the content creation pipeline and Blueprints system in Unreal. A high level of technical knowledge combined with strong creative and visual instincts is critical. The Real-Time Pipeline TD will assist teams of artists in tackling projects and be equipped to provide support on complicated technical issues within Unreal.

You can:

  • Work with the CG Lead and Creative Director to design interactive experiences using Unreal
  • Design, manage and maintain the Unreal pipeline, developing tools and workflows for utilising game engine technology
  • Create interaction and functionality using Unreal's Blueprints system
  • Design complex materials in Unreal and instruct artists on best practices for material creation
  • Understand the various lighting techniques in Unreal and be able to instruct the artists in lighting best practices
  • Optimise content through profiling and enhancing performance with the help of diagnostic tools and instruct the artists on modelling and texturing best practices
  • Collaborate with programmers to develop and test new features, prototype shader code, and provide useful feedback during R&D phases
  • Work on optimising performance and improving render quality in game engine
  • Work closely with the Dev and CG teams to integrate game engine tools into existing VFX pipeline
  • Self direct and are comfortable with rapid prototyping and iteration

You have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • At least 3 years experience working with Unreal Engine
  • High level experience with Unreal Engine and/or Unity3D
  • Advanced experience of Unreal's Blueprints system
  • Advanced expertise with Maya (3dsMax considered)
  • Experience in a range of content creation software including Photoshop Zbrush/Mudbox, Substance Painter
  • Scripting skills with MEL, Python, C#, Javascript and C++ (preferred)
  • Experience with VR/AR authoring in Unreal (advantageous)
  • Shader programming experience (advantageous)
  • Maya Rigging experience (advantageous)
  • Expert problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • A strong ability to multitask and are detail oriented 
  • The ability to self-manage, prioritise and work to deadlines
  • An approachable, proactive, and accommodating attitude
  • An innate desire to stay informed of current technologies
