Main Purpose:

Encompass provide linear and nonlinear broadcast, media management and distribution services across Europe, Middle East and Africa from our London, Chiswick Green, facility.

The role of Support Engineer is a hands-on role, working within the Encompass engineering support team, supporting our clients and specific operations to identify and react to problems, and resolve issues rapidly to maintain the highest levels of service and technical reliability.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • To provide engineering support for all broadcast services in the facility
  • To provide system ownership for live production systems
  • To respond to requests from operational staff and clients
  • To fix issues that arise or escalate to the Engineering Lead or appropriate channels
  • To liaise with third party vendor support departments
  • To log all issues raised and detail their resolution or ongoing status
  • To carry out engineering works as required by projects under EDML standards and policies
  • To ensure that a comprehensive handover is completed and shared with the wider group per shift – notably including open and on-going issues
  • To carry out pre-emptive maintenance checks on live systems and ensure that these are logged as routine tasks as required per shift and to share with the wider group


  • Ideally educated to degree level or recognised equivalent
  • Broadcast engineering, playout automation and digital asset management experience
  • Experience in the design, construction and operation of complex broadcast systems infrastructure in a tapeless environment would be an advantage
  • General IT experience working with IP, Databases, Windows OS and Linux, Networks, Apple Macs
  • Experience of play-out and asset management
  • Knowledge of base band and file based transmission technologies

Hours of work: 

Full time, working an average of 40 hours per week on a shift basis
