Job Summary

Responsible for planning, integrating and problem-solving in a cross-platform environment. In addition to supporting technical operations, under the leadership of the Director of IT, provide diagrams and documentation of all infrastructure aspects. Routine monitoring of servers, storage and network and provide support in the event of a system failure. Directs and assists IT Department in implementing and maintaining system policies and procedures.

Ensuring the needs of the studio are met, offering technical support and creating installation instructions for users.  

Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective technical support to the Windows, Linux, and OS X and the operational environment. Ensure Windows and Linux servers are appropriately patched as part of a patch management strategy.

  • Implementation and assist with compliance fulfilment by establishing and documenting these policies.

  • Monitor all servers and networks, related hardware and software to assure optimal performance.

  • Under the guidance of the Director of IT, create and follow defined policies and procedures that assure best practices for high availability for operations, including redundant power to all servers, HVAC, cabling, power and security.

  • Build servers/virtual machines and configure to specification.

  • Maintain servers, virtual machines, Active Directory, file and print services, storage systems and backups.

  • Direct IT staff in developing, testing, evaluating and deploying new technologies and solutions and provide documentation and diagrams.

  • Cross train with peers on the deployment and maintenance of the network infrastructure, virtualization, servers and storage support.

  • Continually increase the level of stability within the studio's information technology infrastructure as well as personal skill set and knowledge.

  • Setup and configure the server room and systems therein by architecting to a robust, stable and manageable state.

  • Available to be on call in the event of any major system outage to troubleshoot, and resolve technology based issues. Followed by providing a roadmap outlining cause and recommendations for addressing system issue.

  • Attend product briefings, read product information, understand what others are doing to assess validity and usefulness within the studio environment.

  • Research and implement a backup strategy able to reliably backup critical user data and profiles.

  • Provide leadership to with those with whom you work with through your conduct, attitude and professionalism. Represent the Information Technology organization to staff and artists in a way that reflects well on the IT Department.

  • Effectively performs other duties as needed in the event of IT staff being unavailable.

Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years related professional work experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly relay technical requirements to management

  • Strong, effective documentation skills

  • Knowledge of server and desktop infrastructure, Linux, OSX and Windows 7

  • Strong understanding of Bash, Python and/or Perl

  • Knowledge of email systems (MS Exchange, Office365 and Google Apps)

  • Ability to successfully work independently with initiative, and complete assigned tasks and responsibilities, as well as work collaboratively with others.
