ON Animation Studio is taking a journey into the land of creativity and infinite possibilities...into the Playmobil Universe!  Lino diSalvo (Frozen, Tangled) is directing our next exciting CG feature film adventure.

Since 2013, ON Animation Studio has produced, developed and created the pipeline and tools used on the films “The Little Prince” (winner of the 2016 César for Best Animated Film) and “Mune”, at Mikros Image Canada's facilities in Montreal. In 2016, we embarked on yet another adventure - operating as a full-fledged independent CG studio in the heart of downtown Montreal, with the commission of a brand new 25.000 sq ft facility!

Your mission

  • UNIX/LINUX server experience, including expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures;
  • Oversee data backups and archives;
  • Support a wide array of software packages both internally developed and purchased from third parties (ie. Maya, Mari, Nuke, etc.);
  • Support multiple hardware and operating system platforms including Windows, Linux, iOS and occasionally Mac as well as related software, printers, networks, remote access, and connectivity;
  • Work with management and the greater technology team to continually support procedures and policies and recommend process improvement;
  • Proactively fix issues by developing software code to eliminate problems before they happen. 

Your qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in Systems Administration or Systems Engineering, preferably in a production setting;
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, Unix, and OSX (required);
  • Coding skills in Python or Bash (asset);
  • Strong Debian / Ubuntu Linux administration and troubleshooting skills (Desktop and Servers) ;
  • Experience and knowledge of data backup concepts, software, and hardware (Netbackup, Tape library etc.);
  • Familiarity with large scale SAN / NAS technologies;
  • Experience managing communication and connectivity services like LDAP, DNS, DHCP;
  • Experience with configuration management services like Puppet;
  • Experience with source code/revision control system like Git;
  • Familiarity with systems tools and protocols (e.g. SNMP, Nagios, iperf);
  • Excellent Communication skills and strong customer-service orientation;
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills;
  • Able to multitask in a highly complex, diverse, production environment;
  • Experience with CG Animation, Visual Effects, or Video Game production environments (asset);
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies like VMware / Qemu (asset);
  • Must be a team player!
