Systems Remote Support Engineer (LA Based)

The Systems Remote Support Engineer is an extension of Weta Digital's Support and IT services, based in one of our remote offices.

While, the Support Engineer is the first port of call for desktop machines, laptops, monitors, software issues, installation, licenses, computer set-ups , relocations and general helpdesk; they also provide technical assistance with conference room audio-visual set-ups, HiDef stations, troubleshooting conference calls, and issues with VOIP phones.

The Support Engineer provides IT assistance to customers, and maintains and upgrades workstation-based hardware and software, as well as some related IT services.

This is a sole charge position and we are looking for keen candidates who can fulfil the below role requirements:

Role Requirements:
- Install, configure and upgrade hardware and software
- Provide timely support, including talking through a series of actions over the telephone, resolving issues in person or over networks, procedural documentation or written instruction, and relevant reports
- Adhere to all confidentiality and information standards, uphold processes policies and best practices, act with integrity
- Work independently, manage time and communicate effectively (both written and spoken) with internal customers and other colleagues
- Establish good working relationships with customers, colleagues and vendors
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Manage IT resources and ensure they are organised, implemented and utilised both prudently and appropriately
- Diagnose and provide solutions for reported hardware and software issues
- Monitor and update our request tracking systems
- Test and evaluate new technology
- Complete project work or assigned tasks as required
- Ensure IT equipment and cabling is stored in a presentable and tidy fashion
- Follow correct purchasing procedures
- Write technical procedures and documentation
- Maintain and increase skills and knowledge

Skills Required:
- A good understanding of computer hardware, relevant applications and operating systems
- Experience with Linux operating systems and/or systems administration
- An understanding of networking suitable to allow network related trouble-shooting
- An understanding of GIT suitable to troubleshoot user issues
- Well-versed in Weta Digital security policies and procedures
- IT support related qualification or equivalent experience

Desired Skills:
- Experience with all network operating systems and/or systems administration (Linux, Mac, Windows)
- Senior: Specialist knowledge of one or several areas to an advanced level
- Prior experience in the VFX production, entertainment, media or gaming industries
