Hey All,

We have an old Dell MD3200 Array (with MD1200 expansion chassis). Its got dead or dying 4TB SAS drives which we’ve discovered are near impossible to find.

Dell in their infinite wisdom chose to make it so you need a certified drive with certified firmware. We used to be able to find refurb drives through our reseller but now those are unavailable.

I can get drives that match the part number but haven’t been able to get the custom firmware onto them (yet).

In the meantime… I’m wondering if anyone in the community has any of these drives they would be willing to part with or know of a source!

Thanks!!!!!

We have 2 MD1200s that run HGST NAS drives without issues.

Theres a couple different possible model numbers.

We have a Seagate drive with the correct model number but the wrong firmware. Were going to try and upgrade its firmware using a different Healthy array.

Worst case well just call Dell Support and give them a credit card number!
