Guess I missed the announcement in October since I just updated to macOS 10.12:

Basically native MXF support in macOS... So maybe that's the light at the end of the long, dark QuickTime tunnel?

Whatever latest I could find on the Avid web site, so version 2.7.3 from September 2016:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/Avid-QuickTime-Codecs-LE

I have to admit I naively thought that if you installed a "QuickTime codec", it would work in both QuickTime Player 7 and QuickTime Player X, but it seems like third-party QuickTime codecs only work with QuickTime Player 7?

JF,
How old are those codecs? Are they meant for QuickTime X?

And amusingly if you install the Avid DNxHD codecs good 'ole QuickTime Player 7 will happily open and play a DNxHD MXF file, but QuickTime Player X will not...
