dynamic disk to basic disk

Hi all, Long story short, does anyone know a reliable way of converting a dynamic disk back to basic without losing the data? I have a 20TB NTFS formatted Raid that won't mount as it now thinks its a dynamic disk not a basic as it should be and windows says its now invalid. I've found a couple of tools on the web but thought I'd check with the large pool of knowledge (SSA) before I used one of them. There is a backup copy that we can use as the last resort but I'd like to avoid it if possible. Ta, Dave. Re: dynamic disk to basic disk

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk Should do it. Scan the disk in question, you can backup the files from it first if you like. Then you can change the partition type and write it out. ________________________________________ From: studiosysadmins-discuss-bounces@studiosysadmins.com [studiosysadmins-discuss-bounces@studiosysadmins.com] on behalf of Dave Goodbourn [dave@davegoodbourn.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2012 10:06 AM To: discuss@studiosysadmins.com Subject: [SSA-Discuss] dynamic disk to basic disk Hi all, Long story short, does anyone know a reliable way of converting a dynamic disk back to basic without losing the data? Re: dynamic disk to basic disk

That was one of the tools I'd found. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
